AfriForum is an Afrikaans civil rights organisation that protects the rights of minority groups at national as well as provincial level, and anyone who can identify with AfriForum’s principles and objectives may join the organisation. AfriForum’s community plan focuses on mobilising communities to thus take control of their own streets and neighbourhoods again. AfriForum smells a rat about rotten water in Stellenbosch. What are they hiding?

AfriForum continues with private water testing after Stellenbosch Municipality refuses testing and information.

Information from municipal sources contradict those of the DWS and is aimed at disregarding and underplaying the problems and therefore misleading the public.

53% of the sewage treatment plants do not meet the quality standards.
18% indicate the presence of E. coli.
Inadequately treated sewage is dumped in Stellenbosch’s rivers.

After all of this, Stellenbosch Municipality maintains that there are “no problems” with water in the municipality!
