Springs branch cuts about two hectares of grass in February
The AfriForum branch in Springs cut more than 1,9 hectares of grass in this city during February. In this period, there was a particular focus on Casseldale at the corner of Coillery- and Driehoek Road, as well as a park in Edelweiss. Thirty black bags full of grass were removed with a 4-tonne truck after the grass at the park had been cut.
This project forms part of the branch’s sustainable cleaning project during which several areas are maintained. The Springs branch also has a garden team that cleans Butler Park and the Duck Dam weekly and keeps it tidy.
“The branch is dedicated to promoting a cleaner and healthier environment for our community. We are delighted with the success this project has achieved so far. We believe that it will have a positive impact on the aesthetic value of the town and that it will also positively affect the overall well-being of our residents,” says Jurie Ferreira, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the East Rand.
He also thanks the community for their support and cooperation which makes it possible for the Springs branch to make positive changes in the city.
“For a community project to be successful, it depends on civil rights organisations and the wider communities’ cooperation,” says Cornel Swart, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Springs branch.
