SONA 2022: More beautiful words without action
President Cyril Ramaphosa’s State of the Nation Address has once again affirmed the president’s reputation as a man of beautiful words and no action.
The president has once again promised to eradicate unemployment while ANC policy is one of the main drivers of unemployment.
More promises of infrastructure development have been made while the ANC government has failed dismally in maintaining current infrastructure.
The president’s track record of empty promises, also instills zero confidence in his claims that the state of disaster will be ended soon. Therefore AfriForum will continue with its legal action against this continued state of tyranny without parliamentary oversight.
“It’s a pity that all of the presidents’ plans depend on the ANC government’s ability to implement these plans. There have been some changes in the country though since President Ramaphosa’s last state of the nation address in 2021. Violent crime has escalated, unemployment has reached record levels, and lastly, the date has changed.”, says Jacques Broodryk, AfriForum’s Campaign Manager.
