Petition against fracking
Fracking refers to the process where a high-pressure liquid is used to break rock and release natural gas from deep within the shale rock levels in the earth’s crust. Millions of litres of water are needed to make only one such hole, and thousands of holes can be drilled and investigated – with detrimental consequences for the environment. It is especially worrisome when South Africa’s water shortage is taken into consideration. AriForum objects to this threat in cooperation with the Treasure Karoo Action Group (TKAG).
