New Kammanassie farm watch ready for festive season
The civil rights organisation AfriForum’s new Kammanassie farm watch is ready to protect the rural area around George this festive season. This farm guard consists of local farmers who now take ownership of this community’s safety. The establishment of the Kammanassie farm watch on 6 December this year follows after this remote area has recently experienced serious challenges with livestock theft and drug trafficking in particular.
Marthinus Erasmus, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the Southern Cape, says AfriForum is excited about the establishment of this new farm watch and believes that it emphasises this community’s willingness to act effectively against crime. “We are not going to sit around and wait for someone to save us – no one but ourselves is going to protect our communities,” explains Erasmus.
The farm watch’s management consists of George Martin (Farm Watch Leader), Caevert Barkhuizen (Operations Team Leader), Amanda Martin (Information Team Leader) and Stefan Smith (Support Team Leader). Neels Nortjé and Johan Jubelius were elected as Sector Leaders.
Join this farm watch to stand up against crime together. Send an email to marthinus.erasmus@afriforum.co.za or call Erasmus on 081 216 9602.
