MALEMA AND NDLOZI’S ASSAULT HEARING POSTPONED UNTIL JULY

The trial of Julius Malema, leader of the EFF, and Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, EFF MP, was today postponed in the Randburg Magistrate Court to 1 and 2 July 2021. The two appeared for the alleged assault of an SAPS colonel, Johannes Venter.

The postponement comes after some of the witnesses who would have testified tomorrow indicated that they are unwell.

Today the court heard that not only had the original case docket disappeared, but that the photo evidence was also tampered with.

“It is extremely concerning that a police officer, who was simply attempting to perform his duties, has now seemingly become a victim of incompetence among his own colleagues. It is also very suspicious that evidence has disappeared in a case against Malema,” says Jacques Broodryk, AfriForum’s Manager of Campaigns.

AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit will continue to monitor the case.
