Who and what is AfriForum?

AfriForum is an Afrikaans civil rights organisation that protects the rights of minority groups at national as well as provincial level, and anyone who can identify with AfriForum’s principles and objectives may join the organisation. AfriForum’s community plan focuses on mobilising communities to thus take control of their own streets and neighbourhoods again. AfriForum ensures that your constitutional and civil rights are recognised and protected at national level.

AfriForum is ’n Afrikaanse burgerregteorganisasie wat die regte van minderheidsgroepe op sowel nasionale as provinsiale vlak beskerm, en enigiemand wat met AfriForum se beginsels en doelstellings kan identifiseer, mag by die organisasie aansluit. AfriForum se gemeenskapsplan fokus daarop om gemeenskappe te mobiliseer om só weer beheer terug te neem oor hul eie strate en woonbuurtes. Petition against Eskom that is planning on interrupting electricity supply to Brits

AfriForum’s Brits branch and community members would like to involve the public and ask them for their support to sign this petition that is aimed at preventing the planned interruption of electricity supply to Brits and the surrounding environment.

The Madibeng Local Municipality’s debt at Eskom amounts to R138 463 908. Accordingly Eskom is planning on cutting off the electricity supply to Brits, Elandsrand, Lethlabile, Oukasie, Damonsville, and Primindia as from 3 July 2020.

Letters have already been directed to both Jostina Mothibe, Mayor of the Madibeng Local Municipality, and Eskom in which we ask that electricity supply must not be interrupted.

AfriForum is however hopeful that sustained pressure and community support will lead to uninterrupted electricity supply. Please help us thus by signing the petition. The branch will subsequently send the petition to Eskom to apply further pressure.
