Deneysville branch rolls up its sleeves to fix the town

Since the beginning of August, AfriForum’s Deneysville branch used around 200 bags of tar and 200 litre ss60 bitumen emulsion to repair and seal various potholes in town. At the same time, the branch repainted road markings at stop streets to increase road safety after several residents complained about it.

“By repairing potholes, we not only make our streets safer, but it shows the progress of our branch in the community. We are delighted with the success of this project and the positive impact it has on road safety and traffic flow. We are grateful for the community’s support and our partners’ involvement. We would also like to thank the Metsimaholo Local Municipality that donated the tar for the project,” says Michael Gardner, AfriForum’s Chairperson of the Deneysville branch.

“We as a branch would also like to encourage the community and businesses to support us in repairing even more potholes. There are still many dangerous potholes in town that we want to tackle, and we need everyone’s help, whether financially or physically,” says Jaco Grobbelaar, AfriForum’s Regional Head for the Central Region.

AfriForum’s Deneysville branch is also flourishing in other areas, such as its active neighbourhood watch, which is keeping the community safe. Furthermore, the branch also acquired garden tools for its members to clean fields and parks.

“Maintaining fields and parks in residential areas improves safety in our town and prevents suspected criminals from using them as hideouts. It also lowers the risk of fires between houses and contributes to the neatness of our town,” concludes Gardner.
