Alberton neighbourhood watch receives first aid training
Members of AfriForum’s Alberton neighbourhood watch attended a first aid training course on 13 October 2018 and were taught to stop bleeding and to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on adults as well as children.
The training was presented by Marius Gouws from the National Paramedical Services (NPS) and about 21 neighbourhood watch members attended the training.
“With this training, we want to enable our members to act in emergencies until paramedics arrive on the scene,” says Louis van Aswegen, Chairperson of AfriForum’s neighbourhood watch in Alberton.
“The AfriForum neighbourhood watch responds to various kinds of emergencies and often found that there was no immediate medical help available. That is why we view first aid training as an essential skill for enabling our neighbourhood watch to assist our community,” Van Aswegen concludes.
