Alberton branch holds meet and greet for neighbours and cleans up park

AfriForum’s Alberton branch hosted an event on World Cleanup Day (16 September) at Gatwick Park where community members had the opportunity to meet their neighbours. This opportunity was also used to clean up the park and about 25 volunteers came together to lend a hand. The event was held in collaboration with other community organisations.

The aim of this initiative was to create a safe space where neighbours could meet each other and at the same time also help to clean and improve the environment. The Alberton branch worked with the local Alberton PICUP organisation to clean up the park.

“The cooperation between communities and organisations creates hope for the future. Taking on projects like this is proof that we will not sit back and watch our environment deteriorate,” says Jurie Ferreira, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the East Rand.

The Alberton branch calls on the community to get involved in their initiatives to make a positive difference.

For more information and to get involved, the community can contact the branch by email at alberton@afriforumtak.co.za.
