AfriForum’s #YourTown campaign: Tzaneen branch replace stop signs

AfriForum’s Tzaneen branch purchased five new stop signs on 8 October 2018, which were then given to the municipality’s traffic department. The project forms part of the civil rights organisation’s #YourTown campaign, which is aimed at addressing problems in towns itself.

The traffic department plans on erecting the new stop signs at various intersections in the town where signs are currently absent.

According to Pieter Venter, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Tzaneen branch, it is alleged that the stop signs are stolen and sold for scrap metal. “The safety of our town’s motorists and pedestrians are very important to us. Absent stop signs at intersections may cause serious accidents, which is why our branch decided to take initiative and assist the traffic departing with replacing the signs.”
