AfriForum’s Roodepoort neighbourhood watch apprehends three suspects
AfriForum’s Roodepoort neighbourhood watch apprehended three suspects in the area on 2 September 2019.
One of the suspects was apprehended during a patrol in the early hours of the morning. A member of the patrol caught the suspect red-handed while breaking into a house and arrested him. The suspect already has a case of armed robbery against him.
Later that day another two suspects were apprehended and turned over to the SAPS for further questioning. They were apprehended after the neighbourhood watch had investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle. One of the suspects is wanted for assault with the intent of serious injury. Drugs (tik and CAT) were also found in the suspects’ possession.
“These success don’t happen overnight – many man hours are required to implement and execute patrols effectively. When AfriForum’s Roodepoort neighbourhood watch do reap the benefits, as they did in this case, it confirms that they have a winning recipe to protect their community,” says Dewet Ungerer, AfriForum’s assistant coordinator for the West Rand.
