AfriForum’s Piet Retief neighbourhood watch holds mass patrol
AfriForum’s neighbourhood watch in Piet Retief undertook yet another successful mass patrol on 13 September 2019.
The local SAPS made 16 members and six vehicles available to participate in the patrol. A convoy visited every sector in Piet Retief to increase visibility. Altogether, 24 vehicles and 52 members participated in the patrol, which lasted throughout the night.
“It is important to us to patrol regularly to ensure continuous visibility in the community, thereby limiting crime in our town,” says Gerhard Böhmer, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Piet Retief neighbourhood. “The community’s inputs and help are much appreciated and contribute to the safety of everyone in Piet Retief.”
“It is wonderful that the Piet Retief neighbourhood watch and all role-players in the town could put together such a large team to make a difference in the town. We are especially grateful to the SAPS for being willing to participate in the patrol,” says Bronwen Pretorius, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the Highveld.
