AfriForum distributes hand sanitiser and face masks to northern region branches
AfriForum distributed hand sanitiser and masks to its 53 branches in the northern region today after the organisation launched a national project the past two weeks during which 15 000 bottles hand sanitiser were donated to several police stations, emergency services and old age homes.
Over 4 000 bottles hand sanitiser and 3 200 face masks are being sent to various branches and neighbourhood watches in the three provinces to make it possible for them to be of service to their communities.
“AfriForum’s northern region branches offer continuous assistance to their communities to ensure that they receive the necessary help and to curb the spread of COVID-19,” says Marié Naudé, AfriForum’s Head of Community Structures for the northern region.
“AfriForum is here to make a noticeable difference. There is a huge shortage of these basic supplies all over the country, which is why AfriForum started this initiative. AfriForum’s northern region neighbourhood watches have various resources to offer such as their air support wing and approximately 3 500 patrollers who can act as eyes and ears and offer assistance during emergency situations. AfriForum urges communities to sign the petition on the organisation’s Facebook page to ensure that neighbourhood watches and community policing forums (CPFs) are listed as essential services,” says Hillel Coetzer, AfriForum’s Head of Community Safety for the northern region.
