AfriForum’s Mossel Bay branch celebrates arbour month with local municipality

The AfriForum branch in Mossel Bay on 19 September planted trees in a park in Heiderand as part of the civil rights organisation’s national arbour month project.

The event was attended by Dirk Kotze, the acting mayor, as well as other councillors, directors involved with the municipality and officials.

The arbour month project is a project that AfriForum tackles across the country annually. The project not only affirms AfriForum and its members’ faith in the future, but it is also symbolic of the organisation’s do-it-yourself principle where people are encouraged to take responsibility themselves for their communities.

“In Mossel Bay we are in the privileged position to have excellent municipal management that is always willing to cooperate. As branch we would like to thank them for that and the officials that work hard to make us a top destination for tourists,” says Louis Cook, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Mossel Bay branch.

“We are very proud of the operations of the Mossel Bay branch, that over the years succeeded in forging extremely positive links with the local government with a winning town as a result,” says Arno Greyling, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the Southern Cape.
