AfriForum’s Free State, North West and KwaZulu-Natal neighbourhood watches participate in national patrol

AfriForum neighbourhood watches in the central region – which comprises the Free State, North West and KwaZulu-Natal – participated in the civil rights organisation’s national patrol on Friday 18 September.

Altogether 17 AfriForum neighbourhood watches, 280 patrollers and 151 vehicles participated in the Free State. They covered more than 5 500 km and attended successfully to 28 incidents in cooperation with SAPS.

The AfriForum neighbourhood watches in Hluhluwe, Margate, Newcastle, Vryheid and Pongola also participated in the patrol. This involved 172 patrollers in 111 vehicles, who covered more than 4 500 km in total. Ten incidents were attended to in cooperation with the SAPS.

In North West, altogether 20 neighbourhood watches, 918 patrollers and 499 vehicles participated in the patrol, covering more than 16 600 km. About 57 incidents were attended to successfully.

Other security organisations – among these the SAPS, security firms and emergency services – participated in the patrol together with AfriForum.
