AfriForum’s Benoni neighbourhood watch holds mass visibility patrol
The AfriForum neighbourhood watch in Benoni on 16 August 2019 held a mass patrol in their respective areas in cooperation with various security companies and the community policing forum (CPF) to sharpen policing visibility. This action started at around 18:00 and continued until 04:00.
Altogether 61 patrollers turned up to make a difference and 1 359 km were covered in 215 man-hours. No serious incidents were reported.
“It is gladdening to see how members from various safety structures can stand together to make an active difference. We also signed up new AfriForum members throughout the evening. AfriForum’s Benoni neighbourhood watch will continuously tackle projects and regularly hold patrols to attempt to combat crime and promote safety in cooperation with the SAPS and other safety institutions,” says Ettiene de Klerk, Vice-chairperson of AfriForum’s Benoni branch.
