AfriForum safety structures in KwaZulu Natal participate in national mass patrol
AfriForum’s safety structures in Hluhluwe, Paulpietersburg and Vryheid on 20 July 2018 together with community safety structures in Ladysmith, Melmoth, Howick, Newcastle and Glencoe participated in a national mass patrol.
More than 1 350 km were covered during this patrol. Two incidents were handled successfully in cooperation with the SAPS. During one of these incidents illegal cigarettes with a street value of R250 000 were confiscated in Hluhluwe.
“AfriForum is launching these national patrols to improve visibility and cooperation, as well as to ensure the safety of our communities,” says David Olivier, AfriForum’s Safety Coordinator for the central region.
“AfriForum is making a plea to communities to become involved and start prioritising their safety themselves. We cannot rely on the state alone to take care of our safety. Become involved at any safety institution in your area and become part of the solution,” says Eugene van Aswegen, AfriForum’s Provincial Coordinator for KwaZulu Natal.
