AfriForum neighbourhood watch in Uitsig retrieves stolen vehicle

The civil rights watchdog AfriForum’s neighbourhood watch in in Uitsig reacted to a tip on Saturday and in cooperation with SA CAN retrieved a Nissan 1400 bakkie in a deserted parking lot in the Bloemfontein city centre after the vehicle had been stolen at a shopping mall in Uitsig.

The reaction team first surveyed the vehicle for some time to determine whether any suspects would return to the vehicle, which unfortunately did not happen.

According to Pieter Myburg, AfriForum’s district coordinator for Bloemfontein, the South African Police Service was immediately notified that the vehicle had been found and the flying squad then gave assistance.

“It is reassuring to know that the neighbourhood watch structures are functioning well and that a real difference is being made in the community,” says Gert Jacobs, chairperson of AfriForum’s neighbourhood watch in Uitsig.
