AfriForum neighbourhood watch in Bloemfontein North achieves great success
The civil rights watchdog AfriForum’s neighbourhood watch in Bloemfontein North received intelligence on Wednesday at around 12:00 about two suspicious vehicles at a shopping centre in Navalsig.
AfriForum’s response team and control room were activated where after they manned strategic vantage points and watched the suspicious vehicles. The police were also notified. The police and ITR Security reacted where after the two vehicles and its five occupants were searched, and the police arrested the persons. The police seized two police radios, two firearms, blue lights, three knives, reflective police jackets, as well as the two vehicles.
According to Pieter Myburg, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Bloemfontein, these five suspects are thought to be involved in various crimes in the Northern Cape and North West.
“It is truly gladdening to see that our control room and the authorities work together so well,” says Hannes de Beer, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Bloemfontein-North branch.
