AfriForum lays charges against Matlosana Local Municipality

During February of this year AfriForum laid charges of fraud against the Matlosana Local Municipality in Klerksdorp.

This follows after documents referring to tender CORS 6/2014 for the hire of multifunctional copying machines were delivered to the AfriForum office in Klerksdorp.

“Upon examining the documents, it became clear that irregularities took place. The tender was awarded to Siyakha-Isizwe Trading Enterprises, despite findings and a recommendation from the bidding committee that the tender be re-advertised and that the local service provider must continue to provide the service on an ad-hoc basis,” says Frans Roos, Chairperson of the AfriForum branch in Klerksdorp.

“An investigation by a forensic investigator also confirmed serious anomalies in the involved documents,” says Hendrik Oosthuizen, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for North West.

“After thorough consideration and legal advice, the branch handed in affidavits at the police for further investigation and possible prosecution,” concludes Roos.
