AfriForum is requesting a meeting with Pres. Cyril Ramaphosa
AfriForum is requesting a meeting with Pres. Cyril Ramaphosa to discuss the future of Afrikaners.
The President should take note of the fact that the events in Senekal and the escalation of political friction in this country over the last few weeks are not merely reactions to the murder of Brendin Horner. We view the tragic death of Mr Horner – and the thousands of others who have been murdered in farm attacks – as the symptom of a deeper problem; of a sense of alienation among Afrikaners, who feel that they are being treated by the South African government as second-rate citizens.
That is why the President’s recent letter to the nation and the meetings held by Minister Bheki Cele are insufficient to address the crisis of farm attacks. Neither do these reassure Afrikaners that their voices are being heard or that they are regarded as a respected community within the South African society.
On the contrary: Not only does the Afrikaner community feel that the crisis of farm attacks is disregarded by the government; it also feels that it is a crisis deliberately created by the South African government as collateral damage on the road to what the ruling party describes as the national democratic revolution.
Open letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa
