AfriForum branches hand over a wish list to Rand West Local Municipality

On 7 March 2017, AfriForum’s Randfontein and Westonaria branches handed over a wish list to Larry Steyn, the Chief Operational Manager of the Rand West Local Municipality.

This follows after these branches had identified various community problems and priorities which they aim to address during the course of this year.

“During our meeting Steyn took note of the problems we had listed in the wish list and undertook to add it to the municipality’s integrated development plan (IDP) and then take the necessary action,” says Mike van Deventer, the Chairperson of AfriForum’s Westonaria branch.

Steyn therefore agreed that the municipality will give formal feedback to AfriForum on both of the branches’ wish lists within 14 days of the date of the meeting. He also made various departmental communication channels available to AfriForum.

“It is heartening to know that the municipality wants to join hands with AfriForum,” says Matiam van Vuuren, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Randfontein branch.

“AfriForum would like encourage members of the community to become involved with the compiling of the municipality’s IDP,” Van Vuuren adds.
