AfriForum and Solidarity do it themselves

Personnel from both AfriForum and Solidarity participated today in various projects in the vicinity of these institutions’ head offices in Pretoria.

These projects included, among other things, the repair of potholes, the repainting of traffic circles, speed bumps and lines in the parking areas. A nearby field and sidewalks were also cleaned.

AfriForum branches nationwide take ownership of their communities and the organisation’s thousands of volunteers use their free time to renovate streets and parks, take part in neighbourhood watch patrols and much more. That is why AfriForum’s head office personnel also put word into action today to show their support to branches nationwide.

Since the beginning of the year, these branches have undertaken 582 cleaning projects nationwide, among which 163 parks have been cleaned, 578 pothole projects have been successfully completed with approximately 250 tons of tar and 195 street light projects have been completed.

“It is liberating to know that we are not at the mercy of the decay caused by the government, but that we are able to create the communities in which we want to raise our children. This initiative by AfriForum and Solidarity is precisely an example of what we ourselves can do with our own hands, without being dependent on the authorities,” says Kallie Kriel, CEO of AfriForum.
