AfriForum and Aramex render assistance during Boks vir ’n Boervrou project
AfriForum and Aramex transported thousands of boxes to Kimberley as part of the Boks vir ’n Boervrou project (English: A box for a Farmer’s Wife). The Women’s Agricultural Association (WAA) in Wellington launched the project to support the wives of farmers living in drought-stricken areas.
“From AfriForum’s side we offered to act as collection point in Pretoria. The reaction and concern from the public is overwhelming. Not in our wildest dreams did we think we would be transporting so many boxes,” says Henk Maree, AfriForum’s Spokesperson.
“It is a great privilege for Aramex to be involved with this extremely worthwhile cause. The agricultural community plays an important role in our economy and we know that every little seed that we sow today will in future deliver a generous yield. We trust that this project will again bring some hope in those areas suffering from the drought. We will deliver with a smile!” says André Cronje, Head of Marketing at Aramex.
“Thanks to everyone who reacted so positively; we would never have been able to do it on our own. We are extremely thankful that the project expanded the way it did. It is really encouraging for us. It is unbelievable how people are unloading boxes in Wellington. Everything is wrapped so pretty and looks so nice, perfect just in time for Christmas. Thank you to everyone who contributed – this is what our country needs. We encourage people to become involved with similar projects,” says Karen Barnard of the VLV in Wellington.
