Durban branch’s new management wants to make a difference in the community

The management responsible for AfriForum’s Durban branch recently reorganised and the new management is already devising plans to make a real difference in the community.

The new management consists of Donald Brown (Chairman), Stuart Affleck (Vice Chair), Steve Pender (Treasurer), Roberto Cameron (Secretary), Allison Schoeman (Local Government Affairs), and Stuart Affleck (Community Safety).

“The management’s first priority is to create strong structures and good communication platforms so that the branch’s main portfolios, namely Community Safety, Local Government Affairs and Environmental Affairs, can function effectively,” says Donald Brown, Chairman of AfriForum’s Durban branch. “We invite the community to work with us to make a real difference in Durban.”

Eugene van Aswegen, AfriForum’s Provincial Coordinator for KwaZulu-Natal, is particularly excited about the new management. “South Africans see daily how local governments fail to fulfil their obligations and that communities and the private sector must step in to stop the decline. AfriForum does not believe in standing back, but rather in getting involved to create a better future,” says Van Aswegen.
