AfriForum observers ready to ensure integrity of election
After further training, AfriForum’s team of 134 independent observers is now fully equipped to ensure the integrity of the election at various voting stations on 29 May. The civil rights organisation is committed to closely monitoring the election process to help promote a fair election.
According to Corné Cronje, Manager of Community Structures at AfriForum, the organisation works hard to ensure that the principles of democracy are maintained and that all South Africans can live in a safe and fair environment. “Elections must be free and fair, without any interference or intimidation of voters. This is of crucial importance for AfriForum and that is why we have also trained independent observers for this task.”
“We remind all voters to make sure they vote at their registered voting stations as they will not be allowed to vote elsewhere.”
AfriForum’s neighbourhood watches across the country are also on high alert to monitor the election and be ready to mobilise quickly if a situation requires it. “Our neighbourhood watches are ready to act immediately to help secure their communities during the election,” says Jacques Broodryk, chief spokesperson for Community Safety at AfriForum.
AfriForum encourages all registered voters to cast their votes and thus make a difference in South Africa’s future. “Your voice is invaluable in bringing about change and ensuring a better future for everyone,” concludes Cronje.
