AfriForum clears out 2 000 bins in Moreleta Park
Thanks to the AfriForum branch in Moreleta Park, this Pretoria suburb is now much cleaner and more hygienic than just a few hours ago. This local branch took the initiative and appointed a private refuse removal company to bring relief on Saturday 9 September to areas where refuse had not been removed for about four weeks. Within seven hours, 2 000 refuse bins were cleared out in Moreleta Park.
“AfriForum understands that the current illegal strike only puts more pressure on the Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality to provide services in this Metro. It is indeed within our local branch’s ability to offer this relief and help to the community,” says Sampie Steinberg, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Greater Pretoria North.
“However, this is only a temporary solution. All AfriForum structures in the Tshwane Metro will attempt to find solutions within their capacity to work together with role players to ensure that our communities do not deteriorate because of illegalities.”
AfriForum encourages community members in Moreleta Park to get involved in their local organisations and structures to ensure that this suburb remains a beautiful for a long time to come.
“AfriForum will follow all possible routes to ensure that residents of the Tshwane Metro receive the services they are entitled to. Where possible, AfriForum itself will also step in to help the community,” concludes Steinberg.
