AfriForum takes Free State premier to court over contempt of court order
Mafube case: Judgement reserved in case against Free State premier and Co.
AfriForum on 25 May asked the court for the following order:
- That the Free State premier is found guilty of contempt of court.
- The premier needs to bring about real intervention to comply with the court order of 2022.
- Emergency plans must immediately be put in place to stop the pollution of the Vaal and Wilge Rivers.
- The premier must give feedback to the court regarding the progress of the intervention.
AfriForum will keep the community informed of developments concerning the court case. Sign the petition to support us and put additional pressure on authorities to start delivering services or to hand it over to the community to start doing it themselves.
AfriForum and the Mafube Business Forum will soon again tackle the Mafube Local Municipality in court regarding poor service delivery. This legal action follows after AfriForum won a previous court battle against the municipality and the court made it an order that the provincial government must intervene to improve service delivery in the municipality. However, it didn’t materialise and that is why AfriForum again approached the court to hold the premier accountable since the previous court order hasn’t been obeyed.
Add your voice to the charge and support our court application by signing the petition and subsequently giving us your mandate to hold the municipality accountable for poor service delivery.
