AfriForum’s Mpumalanga neighbourhood watches participate in national mass patrol
The AfriForum neighbourhood watches in Mpumalanga on 18 September participated in the civil rights organisation’s national mass patrol that was held across the country. Numerous other safety structures also participated in the patrol.
The objective of the patrol was to promote cooperation between different communities and safety structures to subsequently bring about crime prevention.
Nearly 340 AfriForum patrollers participated in the patrol in cooperation with 359 patrollers of other structures. More than 21 411 km were covered by 395 vehicles during the patrol.
Patrols were held in the following towns: Argent, Delmas, Dullstroom, Ermelo, Leandra, Lydenburg, Machadodorp, Malelane, Middelburg, Nelspruit, Piet Retief, Secunda, Standerton and White River.
“We are grateful to make a difference in communities by means of initiatives like these. We must work together in the battle against crime,” says Hillel Coetzer, AfriForum’s Head of Community Safety for the northern region.
