AfriForum’s Springs branch spoils the elderly with breakfast
The AfriForum branch in Springs on 30 August 2020 prepared breakfast for the elderly residents of the Makville apartments after these residents were left without electricity for a day due to cable theft.
The electrical division of the Ekurhuleni Metro apparently said that they will only be able to attend to this matter on the Monday seeing as its workers aren’t receiving overtime payment.
According to Cornel Swart, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Springs branch, the branch is committed to serving the community and it was a privilege to prepare breakfast for the elderly.
“We are glad that we were able to provide breakfast for the elderly residents and will continue to support community members. It is unacceptable that the Metro is letting residents and especially the elderly down considering that they are not being compensated for the service that is not being delivered,” says Stephanus Blignaut, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the East Rand.
