AfriForum neighbourhood watch’s camera project helps to arrest suspects

The AfriForum neighbourhood watch in Benoni’s SNIPR camera monitoring project assisted PHP Security and the SAPS to arrest three suspects who are wanted in various theft cases. The SNIPR cameras identified a suspect vehicle by its registration number, after which the safety role-players were informed.

Archie Mouyis, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Benoni branch, wants to thanks AfriForum’s Benoni neighbourhood watch, PHP Security and the SAPS for their quick actions and willingness to help fight crime in Benoni. These arrests are three of many more that Benoni’s SNIPR camera project brought to book.

“Crime is escalating as a result of growing unemployment that the country is currently facing. It is important that we as a community get involved in ensuring the safety of our residents,” says Stephanus (Butch) Blignault, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the East Rand.
