Judicial inquest into death of Kuga-deceased: Proceedings to resume next week
Ford’s expert witness John David Loud (an American engineer), yesterday concluded his evidence in chief in the Western Cape High Court in the judicial inquest into the death of Reshall Jimmy. Adv. Gerrie Nel, Head of AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit, will begin to cross examine Loud on 3 June when he returns from America.
The case will resume on Monday 27 May when Ford will call an insurance expert as witness.
“AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit is ready to cross examine all Ford’s witnesses in the case and look forward to testing their testimonies, as well as presenting our own witnesses’ versions of events to the court,” says Andrew Leask, Investigator at AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit.
Adv. Gerrie Nel, Head of AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit, represents the Jimmy family. Jimmy burned to death in December 2015 when the Ford Kuga that he drove burst into flames. The Ford Motor Company is also a party to the proceedings. This inquest will determine if Ford can be prosecuted for Jimmy’s death.
