AfriForum’s Kuruman neighbourhood watch keeps OCAL Global joggers safe
Joggers of the OCAL Global group on 11 May 2019 jogged through Kuruman for charity. AfriForum’s Kuruman neighbourhood watch accompanied the joggers through the night and made sure that they complete the route safely.
According to OCAL Global’s website, this race is part of their Journey for Change initiative – an incredible non-stop, 24 hour journey that spans 2 200 km over a ten-day period. The joggers started off in Pretoria and made their way through the Kalahari, with the route then hugging the border of Namibia, the Cederberg Mountains in the Western Cape and then culminating at the starting line of the FNB 12 OneRun in Cape Town on 19 May 2019. The purpose of this initiative is to challenge and change the perception around disability and this year the joggers will also gather funds for differently abled children in the Northern Cape.
“We are always willing and ready to make our town a safer place. It would be a pity if wonderful initiatives such as these end up in the spotlight as a result of crime – that is why we decided to support the joggers and to help where we can,” says Paul Marais, Chairperson of the Safety Portfolio of AfriForum’s Kuruman branch.
