AfriForum’s Roodepoort neighbourhood watch reaches new heights
The AfriForum neighbourhood watch in Roodepoort on 15 February 2019 held its monthly crime prevention and mass patrol.
The following institutions were involved: AfriForum’s Roodepoort and Charlie neighbourhood watches; the community policing forum (CPF) and ICE of Honeydew, Fairlands and Sector 2; the Honeydew SAPS (accompanied by the commander); the Johannesburg emergency management services (accompanied by the deputy commander); BCI Security; EC Security; DMS Security; National Security and Fire; ER24; and LTS Search and Rescue.
The group of 59 members assembled in Honeydew and patrolled the areas surrounding the Honeydew SAPS, the Sophiatown SAPS and Florida. No incidents were reported during the patrol.
“I regard it as a victory that we could succeed in involving the cooperation and support of so many organisations and units outside of AfriForum’s framework. It contributed towards our mass patrol reaching unparalleled heights,” says Fanie Naude, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Roodepoort branch.
