Ten police stations in Western Cape among top thirty in SA where most murder-related cases were reported
Bheki Cele, Minister of Police, on 11 September announced the national crime statistics for 2017/2018.
According to the murder figures, ten police stations in the Western Cape are listed among the top thirty in the country with regard to the reporting of murder-related cases. The murder figure in the province also increased with 12,6%. Twelve of the top thirty police stations in the country where cases with regard to attempted murder were reported are also located in the Western Cape.
“AfriForum would like to take hands with key role-players such as the SAPS and the Western Cape Department of Community Safety to combat violent crime in the province together. All role-players – including the SAPS, private security companies and the community – must plan collectively and devise a strategy to combat crime,” says Johandré van Zyl, AfriForum’s Head of Safety for the Northern, Eastern and Western Cape.
