Neighbourhood watches join forces against crime in Vanderbijlpark

The AfriForum branch in Vanderbijlpark on 1 and 2 December this year took part in the civil rights organisation’s national crime prevention patrol where various neighbourhood watch groups such as AfriForum, SWAG, SE Neighbourhood Watch, Flora Gardens Neighbourhood Watch and Mantevrede Neighbourhood Watch joined forces to make a success of this action.

The security companies EMS, Chubb, A-Sec and DAI as well as ER24 and the South African Police Service (SAPS) gave support. In Vanderbijlpark and surrounds 118 patrollers served, 65 motor vehicles and four motorcycles were used, and 2 480 km were travelled. Only three non-serious crime incidents were reported during this time.

“We are grateful for each organisation’s support and participation. Through cooperation we can prevent and fight crime in our town even better. Don’t be uninvolved – it makes you an easy target for crime,” says Adriaan le Roux, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Vanderbijlpark branch.
