AfriForum’s Uitsig neighbourhood watch rescues elderly man from burning house
AfriForum’s neighbourhood watch in Uitsig rescued an elderly man from his burning house in Bermuda Crescent this past Saturday.
AfriForum’s control room in Bloemfontein mobilised their emergency reaction team and notified the authorities after information about the fire had been received.
Pieter Myburgh, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Bloemfontein, says that the members of the Uitsig neighbourhood watch saw the elderly man lying in an unconscious state in one of the rooms of the house when they arrived.
“We are also extremely grateful for the quick reaction of all the emergency services and the fire brigade that had been involved,” says Gert Jacobs, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Uitsig neighbourhood watch.
