AfriForum in Mpumalanga West participates in national patrol
The civil rights watch dog AfriForum’s neighbourhood watches in Delmas, Witbank, Middelburg, Standerton, Secunda, Bethal and Leandra in cooperation with many other security institutions and the South African Police Service (SAPS) participated in AfriForum’s national patrol on 4 August 2017.
Many kilometres were completed country-wide in the various towns were the patrols took place – 278 patrollers in 169 vehicles completed 918,47 man-hours during which 17 incidents were handled successfully.
“The safety of our communities is not the responsibility of only one person or organisation; we have to stand together in this fight. That’s why AfriForum encourages communities to join the security structures that are created,” says Hillel Coetzer, AfriForum’s Regional Coordinator for Mpumalanga West.
AfriForum wants to thank every neighbourhood watch member for their participation in the national patrol, as well as the SAPS and every private institution who took part.
