SLIMkoppe production on stage again as part of AfriForum campaign
As part of AfriForum’s Studeer en Leer in jou Moedertaal (SLIM) campaign for the promotion of mother language education, the stage production SLIMkoppe will this year be performed at schools in the North West for the first time and for a second time in Gauteng.
SLIMkoppe, written by the actor and playwright Chris Vorster, has the purpose of creating awareness among scholars of the advantages of studying in your mother language. Vorster also handles the production of this stage performance.
Actors such as Odelle de Wet, Botha Enslin, Hannes Brummer and Francois Viljoen can be seen in the main roles.
“The play will not only let the learners roar with laughter, but also leave them with a valuable message. SLIMkoppe wants to highlight the value and benefits of mother language education – and how it equips you in your professional life and the doors it opens,” says Carien Bloem, AfriForum’s Project Coordinator for Education Campaigns.
AfriForum furthermore also produced two successful SLIM videos during the past two years to create awareness among Afrikaans-speaking people. Various inspirational Afrikaans South Africans can be seen in these videos that are also available on YouTube.
“These Afrikaners prosper both nationally and internationally in their various professions – and are still unashamedly Afrikaans,” says Bloem.
This year’s production will be performed from 24 July to 2 August at schools in the North West. The program is as follows:
24 July: Brits – Hoërskool Wagpos
25 July: Rustenburg – Hoërskool Rustenburg
26 July: Koster – Koster Gekombineerde Skool and
