AfriForum branch in Port Elizabeth and SAPS to cooperate against crime
The Port Elizabeth branch of the civil rights organisation AfriForum today presented a copy of the cooperation agreement that was signed on 16 January 2017 between AfriForum and the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Centurion to Brig. Meyer, Deputy Commander of the Mount Road police cluster.
“This agreement is aimed at following an integrated approach to improve safety and promote community cooperation in the combating of crime,” says Dirk Burger, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Port Elizabeth branch.
“Crime in urban areas, especially in residential areas, is increasing daily and if the community is not working with the police on a strategy towards combating it, the battle is lost even before it has begun,” says Thomas van Dalen, AfriForum’s Provincial Coordinator for the Eastern Cape.
