Standerton AfriForum joins hands with local Police
The AfriForum branch in Standerton confirmed their cooperation with the South African Police Service (SAPS) on 3 February 2017 by handing over a copy of the cooperation agreement that was signed between AfriForum and the SAPS in Centurion on 16 January 2017 to Col. Fanie Motubane, commanding officer of the Standerton Police. The parties then also agreed to a follow-up meeting to discuss the various problems that the town is facing.
“We are very excited about this agreement, which is aimed at following an integrated approach to improving security and encouraging community cooperation in the fight against crime,” says Hillel Coetzer, AfriForum’s Regional Coordinator for Western Mpumalanga.
“House burglaries are especially a great problem in our community and we encourage the community to become involved in the fight against crime. It does not matter to which organisation you belong – we all fight one enemy: crime. By standing together we can make Standerton a better place,” says Leon Enslin, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Standerton branch.
Bronwen Pretorius, Chairperson of AfriForum’s neighbourhood watch, agrees. “This agreement allows the AfriForum neighbourhood watch to do even more in combatting crime. Cooperation is the key to success.”
